And in the past eight years alone, he did it in just. three. deals:
1) From The Washington Post (of which Warren Buffett was a major stockholder till recently):
"The complicated structuring of the deal under discussion — a tax-free exchange of shares — would enable Buffett to avoid the 35 percent corporate tax on his stock and Graham Holdings to avoid tax on the increased value of the assets transferred, experts said. Because of the large gain in the value of Berkshire’s investment, Graham Holdings might be able to inject assets worth somewhat less than the $1.1 billion value of Buffett’s stake in the company."
"It wouldn’t be the first time Buffett had engineered a tax-free share swap. In December, he swapped his stake in Phillips 66 for a division of the company that made lubricants used in transporting oil through pipelines. Earlier, in 2008, he exchanged his 16.3 percent stake in White Mountains Insurance Group for cash and one of the group’s subsidiaries." [my emphases]
That first stock deal?
$1.1 billion stake in Graham Holdings, former parent of WaPo. Times 35% = $385 million in taxes Buffett didn't pay.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. will swap about $1.4 billion in shares of Phillips 66 for full ownership of the energy firm’s pipeline-services business as billionaire Warren Buffett expands his bet on oil transportation.
35% of $1.4 billion is $490 million in taxes not paid.
"White Mountains is a Bermuda-domiciled financial services holding company [ah, those offshore tax havens Trump talks of eliminating!] ...Berkshire Hathaway would exchange all or substantially all of its 16.3% stake in White Mountains (1,724,200 common shares) for 100% of a White Mountains subsidiary, which will hold Commercial Casualty Insurance Company ("CCIC"), International American Group, Inc. ("IAG") and $751 million in cash...The aggregate exchange value [is] $836 million..."
35% times $836 million equals $292.6 million in taxes avoided by Buffett.
Who does Warren Buffett support for President? Who has he endorsed? Who is he even campaigning for? Think you've got this, right? Guess again.
Who's the rich-snob, tax-cheat now, and who has he thrown his money and power behind?
Doesn't matter one.whit that Buffett's not the one running for President.

"After Abortion,...run by Emily Peterson and Annie Banno, two women who had abortions in the 1970s, ...tries to avoid the political tug-of-war that tends to come with this turf. They concentrate instead on discussing the troubling personal effects of abortion on the mothers." ~ Eric Scheske, Godspy contributing editor, in NC Register's "Signs of Life in the Blogosphere", 2/2006
"Godbloggers could, in the best of worlds, become the new apologists...[including] laymen with day jobs: Emily Peterson and Annie Banno, for instance, at the blog After Abortion..."~ Jonathan V. Last, The Weekly Standard online editor, in First Things's "God on the Internet", 12/2005

"I would now like to say a special word to women who have had an abortion...[many are] aware of the many factors which may have influenced your decision, and [do] not doubt that it was a painful and even shattering decision. The wound in your heart may not yet have healed. Certainly what happened was and remains terribly wrong. But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope. Try rather to understand what happened and face it honestly. If you have not already done so, give yourselves over with humility and trust to repentance. The Father of mercies is ready to give you his forgiveness and his peace...You will come to understand that nothing is definitively lost and you will also be able to ask forgiveness from your child..."
